Citra 3DS Emulator developer has shared a new video revealing the audio implementation for their emulator. As explained in the video, the implementation isn’t perfect and will require more updates until it is working for every game.

Nevertheless, this is an impressive progress update considering the fact that the emulator started its development just a few months ago and has come off a long way since then. Citra 3DS emulator can now run some basic games as well some of the more demanding ones at normal speed but there can be occasional slowdowns or texture glitches along with the audio, that is currently being worked on.

It Should be interesting to see the progress of this emulator considering Nintendo 3DS has a great library of games and the choice to play them on higher resolution on PC should please those who have a PC capable of running them.

What is Citra?

Citra is a work-in-progress Nintendo 3DS emulator started in early 2014. Citra can currently emulate, with varying degrees of success, a wide variety of different homebrew programs and commercial software.

Can I expect Citra to play [GAME] at full-speed?

Citra 3DS Emulator can run most games at full speed now thanks to the recent JIT compiler being merged into the official build. Certain parts of videos/cutscenes will still be slower due to JIT compilation is not feature complete yet. However, not all games are created equally and therefore some games will run at full speed while others might suffer from slow emulation.
